    I think i'll try a fly sheet! That's a good idea.

Another question, Stitch's white legs are covered in the gross residue from tar weed, it grows in his pasture, and of course he has to walk through it. Now if you have it in your area you know how bothersome it is.

How do you get it off of their legs?

Everyone covered good horse cleaning tips already, make sure as much is done early as possible. I usually get there stupid early and spot wash and braid so that's not a concern later.

If its a show where you have a stall, don't forget to pack basic things too; a water bucket, hose for washing, RAGS (for wiping boots before the ring, scummy noses, etc), saddle soap, bobby pins for your hair, hair spray, etc.

Not real sure on the weed stuff you're talking about, I've found that purple colored white horse shampoo takes off stains really well.

I don't know about the weed problem but we do have a lot of red clay. I just take some vetrolin white n' bright and apply it to the legs. I scrub it in with a jelly scrubber and then take more shampoo and lather it up and let it sit for 5 minutes before rinsing. You should be able to see the dirt and stuff rise up into the lather.
Make sure to use it concentrated straight from the bottle, not diluted with water.
Any other purple/blue shampoo will work but I prefer Vetrolin.
After that if it is not white enough I use the horsey spray paint.
