    WHOO! :O
That is a heck of a lot of burrs! Luckily, I've never had this problem with Rainy- but with my dog, it's a different story. She's constantly coming in with burrs, and I've learned the hard way that they really *do* hurt if you grab them on the wrong spot. :( I've bled a couple of times pulling burrs out of Skittle's fur. :P

Yeah, this isn't an issue where my horses are, but oh, my dogs. I have 2 Great Pyrenees and a small, long-haired mutt. They've had them in their feet so badly that they wouldn't even walk! Your fingers hurt like hell when you have to pull out that many.

I just posted a thing about not understanding why people pull manes, but I can so see it in this situation. You're better than I am, I think I would have shaved it off completely!

A long time ago,a friend told me "Take a pair of wire pliers & crush the burr really good (like more than once & at different angles) then brush.
Starting at the tip ,get that section out, then move up just a little get that length tangle free, move up a little more,in stages until you get to the roots. If you crush at the bottom, brush well, move up crush higher up, brush more.Someday, you get them all out & it is easy on you & critter=not much pulling.
We did not have show sheen back then, but I'm sure we would have loved it ! ! LOL
