Renaissance Halloween Costume

Well since everyone else is posting costume ideas in this thread and getting a lot of answers, I thought I'd post this again here. (Sorry if I shouldn't repost n_n)

I want to make Beau a Renaissance horse this year. I drew this up yesterday as sort of an outline of what I want to do for it..
He has a burgundy saddle pad, and I was thinking of attaching tassles to it somehow. Then over his rump, I'm going to get around 6 cheap brown leather belts to match the saddle color, cut them, and fashion them into "barding". I am going to put the tassles on the reins, breastplate, and browband as well. (He's pretty bombproof and has had stuff on the browband before and it doesn't bother him).

Beau's saddle pad:

This is my outfit. The burgundy of the dress pretty much matches the saddle pad exactly. I checked yesterday ^_^

Does anyone have any other ideas/suggestions as to what we could do for this?

You could wear a burgundy cap trimmed with gold which would look great with our dress

SCREAMS I found something for his barding (butt piece)

I have ordered the back half of this in brown leather:

With this design for the .. hanging things:

No breastcollar yet, but hey. It's definitely a start :D

That is really great! do you plan on sewing his costume?

How do you mean sewing? I was considering attaching fabric tassels to the reins and breastplate as well.. The reins will be easy enough as I can just tie the tassels on, but I'm not so sure about the breastplate. I don't know how I'd get them to stay in place instead of sliding down and gathering at the bottom. Suggestions? N_n

Im not going to be much help, I just had to comment on how cool I think your idea is. I'm a huge fan of renaissance fairs and costumes in general. Good luck on the perfect costume and please do post pics with the final result!!
