Running Braids

I get the gist of it, but I don't know how to achieve better results, like this -> Showing a horse with a long mane...
I get choppy results, and I don't like it. Any tips on how to get better braids? Oh, I should put, that I just learned.

Keeping even tension while your braiding gives it the more even look :) it takes practice to get it to look good. also if you take thread after you finish the braid and kind of tie the braid down, it makes it look more uniform and stops the braid from falling out as you ride. ive also seen people sit on their horse's back and kind of do a french braid so that it sits more up on the neck like if the mane was pulled and plaited.
