Shedding Out

I have a weanling that still has al ot of fur. She is about 4 months old and I need to get her to shed out. Constant grooming is slowly working, but I only have two weeks before her first show. Any new ideas?

Maybe a shedding blade? Or a hard curry?

Ride more, worry less.

Get this!

I have this for my horses and one for my dog, you won't believe the amount of hair it gets out. I just got the one for the horses and even though i didn't think they'd have any hair to come out, i got quite a bit.

Shedding blade and shedding block does not seem to be working as fast as I would like. Most of the other foals are shed out already. Just teh two fillies are taking their time. I will look into getting the Furminator.

We sell the Furminator at my work. Check out this link :

It's the large dog size. The horse one is only a bit bigger, but we don't carry it.

Do you clip at all? Perhaps that would work...

My little Roxy is girl hanging onto her winter coat as well and I can't wait for her to shed out.

Keep in mind that she's a baby and the baby winter coat ALWAYS takes longer to shed out no matter what you do. It's not until the baby coat sheds out that you can start to get an idea as to what color the horse will actually be (my weanling was a Bay Tobiano when she was born and shedded out Black Tobiano).

If a curry comb and shedding blade are not getting it out quickly and easily, her coat isn't ready to shed out yet :)

yeah, babies will shed into the summer as they lose their baby fur and ther big kid fur comes in. You can always body clip and sometimes bathing helps too....

A four month old is going to have some baby coat fuzzies unless you clip her.
