Short tail...what to do?

Just wondering what you would do to a horses tail that has been cut for fly season?

This horse's tail falls just above the hock...obviously not a big help against flies...

Anything I can do to help the horse this summer?

I don't really know about the tail but maybe throw a fly sheet on them?
I have a 35.00 fly sheet that has lasted 2 summers, you can find them easy and inexensive (unless you want a really nice one)

I'd say get a fly sheet and maybe a fly fringe or mask? And maybe use fly repellent too! :)

I have seen some horses with very short tails that have strips of fabric braided into what is left of the tail and the fabric strips are just extra long and hang past the end of the tail, if that makes sense. Sort of replacing the missing hair with fabric strips.

I've also seen short tailed horses with for want of a better description 'tail extensions' It was done with contrasting coloured cord/twine braided into the existing tail and looked really nice I'm not sure if it was a special material but I would imagine any sort of thin string would do
