    Shorten/Pull the mane or not?

I own a TWH mare whose mane I've roached/hogged and pulled in the past. My mare looks good with a roached/hogged mane, a short mohawk, a pulled mane, or a long mane... but with a long mane, her mane will get a certain length (long, a few inches past her neck) and then get sort of scraggly at the ends, though everywhere else it is thick and full. Her forelock also, no matter what I do, stays very short and thin (I don't think her forelock has grown at all since I've owned my mare, lol... in fact, I noticed yesterday that she's ripped some of it out... and she doesn't have much to begin with, ).

I've been toying with the idea of pulling or roaching/hogging her mane again. Last time I did it was about three years ago, and she rocked it, but I also love her long mane...

I'm not sure which to do!

(sorry, can't provide pictures right now, my home computer isn't playing nicely at the moment... but pictures of my mare can be found in 'my horses'... or whatever it's called... lol...)

I say cut and pull it. I LOVE pulled and cut manes. They make the horse look so put together and beautiful!! :)

I know... I love the way a pulled mane looks as well, so neat and tidy... but I also just adore a long mane, especially on trail horses, which is what my mare is... lol...

My mare has a nice long mane and so I see where you're coming from. My mare is mostly just a trail horse too and I think more hair keeps the bugs away better...but it's hotter. But then again it's not long until fall/winter hits again lol
