Showing This Weekend... What to do with his mane? *pics*

I'm showing Western Command Class, Barrels, Dash, and MAYBE Flag and Trail.

I don't want to cut his mane - at least not anything more than a slight trim, but I want it to look nice.

What should I do for the show? What do you do to make a pleasure/games horse's mane show-ready?

Thanks :)

Why do you need to cut it? Grab some cowboy magic or a little baby oil and brush it out. If there are any scraggly random long pieces just yank them to give it a more even look.

I guess that would work... I was thinking of putting some coloured bands at the top... kinda like this:

But I'm worried it will look stupid lol.

Personally I hate the sissored straight acrooss look. It looks in natural. Idk what its like in your area, but no one around here does anything beside shine, detangle and brush manes and tails for a gaming show. If you want something a little more "fancy" try a latus (sp?) braid. They look nice and you won't have to chop his mane.

Trim a bridle path and leave it natural

Yep, that's what I would do.
Your horse is very handsome.

I can't see the first picture. I agree with the banding. I don't know if the mane is long or short but you can leave it long if you want and just band.
