Solo Comb Mane Thinner?

My gelding has an INSANELY thick mane and will never stand to get his mane pulled. Not because he is badly trained, he's just VERY fidgety. I saw this "Solo Comb Mane Thinner" here: Solo Comb Mane Thinner - Grooming Products
And thought it would be a fix to my problems. My parents don't fund all the goodies I buy for Charlie, and right now its between spending the 32 dollars on this or saving up for a new Sleazy for him, but if this thing works like it says that it does, I'm all for it. Do any of you have it? Does it work as well as it advertises? Thanks! (:

My neighbor had something like this. She uses it all the time to pull manes. I don't think hers was this expensive though....

I bought one like it, cheaper though, at a tackstore. Because my horse has a thick, coarse mane, it was pretty much useless, it just hacked off hunks.

If you are insistent on cutting your horse's mane then you can do just as good a job with a serrated edged knife.

Ive used this comb trimmer they are all pretty much like for like although the plastic ones arent that great.

Useless. Used one years ago, was quick to go back to the normal way of doing it :( Complete waste of money, and I think it actually broke after just a few horses.

Getting your hair ripped out hurts like hell! Most horses wont stand still for someone to be able to do this any longer than a minute....

I bought a really cheap one and it worked pretty good for the first few times I used it, but it got dull pretty fast.

I saw one that was completely metel for $20 or so and thought that one would probably be a lot better!

I would suggest getting a fully metal one, as it would probably stay sharper, longer and do a better job.

I can't remember where I bought it now but I bought a fully metal one with and this was the great thing, removable blade so my other half just unscrewed it everytime it got a bit dull and ran itover his sharpening stone.

I gotta agree a bit with previous comment relation to pulling, we do it alot with our horses but I have to say I have never been a fan of it I cringe when I see it being done. Many, Many people have said to me oh don't worry they dotn know whats going on and to be fair some of our just stand there expressionless but then there are the few who really kick off when its being done and I hate it, I feel bad for doing it. Just my thoughts anyway.. Im sure sheep arent that keen on beng shaved but hey ho.
