    Spiral curls

Decided to brush out my horses tail yesterday and I noticed he had spiral curls, they are not mats, or dreadlocks, they are perfect spiral curls. The problem is when I try to brush them they will tangle at the bottom..

I know I shouldn't complain because the peices I did get brushed out were beautiful and wavy but omg is it hard to separate these spirals.
    Any ideas on managing them?

I like the Mane and Tail Detangler. My horses do that with their tails, and the Arabians work manes into ropes, too. I use a LOT of the stuff. I also use some human hair stuff called BB SuperGro. It is in the Afro-American hair care section.
