We just hauled my daughter's and granddaughters older barrel mares from Wy to NV. It was in total about 8 hours from start to finish. We drove straight through. I had put in a bale of straw on the mats in the trailer, no shoes and wrapped their legs. I also put bell boots on the one mare, she has a tendency to paw alot with her front legs. I did not blanket them, going from cold wyoming to warm Nevada, I did not want them sweating. Both traveled great, no issues and were glad to find green grass when they got out instead of nasty white snow from where we started. .
