My horses get their tails out of bags too ... some horses are just good.

If you are going to leave it in a bag I would suggest that you get a good fly sheet for your horse to help compensate with the lack of a "tail". I am an avid fly sheet/fly mast user

Yearling
I made a new one today so far so good. I made fly spray and pulled out the fly gear!

What I do is:
Wash the tail
Let it dry
Braid the tail
Roll it up into itself 3 times
Put a band around it so it doesnt fall apart
Take vetrap and go all around the tail
Don't forget to go through the braid a few times to make sure it stays in
Take bailing twine and put it through the bottom for a fly swatter
It usually only takes me about half of a roll of vetrap for this and stays in for at least a week
