Tail Braiding? Help!!

No matter how may times I've looked at turotials and practiced, I just CANNOT seem to be able to braid the correct hunter style tail. Anybody able to post a really detailed tutorial for the braiding challenged like me?

I actually taught myself. I don't do it the "correct" way though, I turn the braid under, so the braid pops out instead of being under the hair. It's fairly easy, I always try to start with super tiny pieces so it doesn't get super chunky. Sorry, no pictures to share though.
