Tar in the mane? O.o

So somehow Lacey ended up with tar in her mane. Like paving tar. I'm pretty sure they re-roofed the barn and stuck the horses in the stalls before the tar had a chance to dry or something because it's ALL over Lacey's blanket too. I don't really care about it being on her blanket since it's just a blanket and it's still intact (should I be worried about it?).

But anyway, is there anyway to get it out of Lacey's mane? Otherwise her mane is going to come all the way off since the tar is way up at the base of her mane as well as through it. There are only about 4-5 big chunks but it's enough that I can't just cut out the nasties and have it look ok. She has a sexy neck for roaching so it'll be ok, I just like braiding a lot. haha

^^^Hahaha

So when I use this goo-gone stuff/veggie oil, I assume I should be prepared to give her a mini bath to get it all out, right? I'm thinking maybe wait until it's already raining so it's not as much of a shock for her to have an even wetter neck? I don't know...I can see it both ways, when it's dry, it'll also dry out and not get super tangly but if it's raining, possibly less of a shock.

What do you all think? I don't have access to heated water at the barn, I guess I could bring a thermos full of boiling water and mix some warm water up...
