Tar weed guck!

Please help...
My mare is in pasture with a bunch of tar weed. And her fore lock is completely gummed up with the sticky stuff that comes off this plant.

I have tried Dawn dishwashing liquid - which I know they use on birds that have gotten caught in oil spills - but no luck. Have also tried detangler.

Does anybody have a sure fire trick for getting this stuff out. I don't want to have to cut off her beautiful hair!

Thanks!

Green Broke
I had never heard of that stuff until your post. Nasty.
A few people, according to my limited research, have had luck with really hot water on the lower tail & Orvus Shampoo. I don't know how to safely use hot water on a forelock or legs though.
The plant can be controlled with strategic cutting. I'd start today.
Good luck.
