THICK mane

Hello!
I have a thoroughbred gelding with a super thick mane. So much so that it won't all stay on one side without a lot of work. Any suggestions on how to thin it out enough so it is manageable to braid and lay on one side?

I wish I knew lol. My mini has a mane like that and I hate it! She won't let me pull it, either. That's the only thing that really makes her ignore all her ground manners, she will flip.
I had to roach it last year and I'm thinking of doing it again this year :(

Same here. My one Thoroughbred has a lovely medium-thick mane, and get this--he LOVES having it pulled. My other TB has an uber thick, double mane and she hates having it touched. I've been trying to do a little at a time pulling-wise, but am not making much progress with her lol. I comb it all to the right side and then start pulling, most from the top, so when it flips back over, most of what was originally on the wrong side is pulled out.

Pull it I guess...I wish my TB had a thick mane! It is so thin! But due a pulling =P

I tries pulling it but that just makes it shorter. Not thinner. Luckily when I do pull it he is very sweet and lets me do it. He's a very laid back thoroughbred.

All my friends with horses that have thick manes, they braid it all to one side for awhile.

My pony has so thick mare too. And I like it. The only problem is that he has very dry skin right now, just because of that. Dandruff and itchy neck :S I still can't shower him, but I'm going to braid his mane and I'm putting oil on his neck.
