Thin coat, winter approaching?
I have never had to worry about blankets really except for my one horse who loves hers and my Anglo Arab. All my guys fuzz out so much they burn up on them, so I let them go natural. But my newest mare has the finest and thinnest coat I've ever seen! I was convinced when I got her that it was clipped and they were lying (as they did about other things) about it. But it has never grown out, it is just super thin. Gorgeous, but thin.
What can I do other than a blanket to help her this winter? She was freezing all over today and it is only getting down to 50 degrees tonight. The barn won't be done for another month, and she gets stall crazy from former abuse and constant stalling. The rest of my horses have at least 3/4 of their winter coats in already, even my Anglo Arab, and she is staying as slick as ever. She is bred a bit differently than the rest of my guys, a bit less hardy. Also, any blanket recommendations for a deep chested, narrow bodied and LONG horse?
Thanks so much!
