Trace Clip Question

So I am planning on giving my horse a trace clip this weekend but I had a few questions:)
First, you end up clipping all the hair off the bottom of the belly right?
Also, you clip the whole chest area too right?
I just want to make sure it doesn't look stupid cause I have a competition coming up!
Oh, and what do you guys use to mark the line you are going to follow? Do you start in a certain place that makes it easier?
FYI: I have full body clipped before, I have just never had to worry about having straight lines:)

This is a diagram of a standard trace clip for you.

How Much To Clip

We dont clip for another month or so....

Most trace clips have the underside of the neck clipped, chest, then bottom half of the body. Google images of trace clips and you will get a bunch of different ones. I found the above link by searching trace clip.
