My mare's mane, tail, and coat were terribly sunbleached when I got her. She's a black and white arab/paint, but she looked almost like she had red hair. Her coat changed within three months of owning her, and she has got healthier, high quality furriness with no red tinges. My problem is, as her mane is growing out, the ends seem dry and still have that horrible reddish hue from this summer. I have never cut her hair, but I have seen some butchered manes and am scared to attempt this on my own. I don't want to cut her mane straight across and have her look like moe from the 3 stooges. Does anyone have some tips for cutting the ends with a more natural look? I was thinking of just using a comb and cutting into the mane with the scissors almost vertical, just like my hairdresser does my bangs, haha.
I know it is more acceptable to "bang" the tail straight across, and for some reason it looks better on the tail than the mane to me.
