Turn out sheets

I live in a warm climate. The weather is sporadic, and in winter it will drop down to around 40 degrees then spike to 75 or 80 the next. It doesn't get too cold, but it can at nights during the dead of winter. No snow, but cold rains. I need a light weight sheet that is waterproof. Being a teenager, I am obsessed with bright colors, but I am not picky. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good light weight sheet that is not too expensive. Also, my horses measure 68 inches and 64 inches, could the smaller one use a yearling sheet? Most yearlings measure 60 to 68 inches.

Brandt Blanket Company (you can find them on Facebook) do custom sheets and have lots of different color and embroidery options. They are great to work with.

They have bright colors and a variety of different things. I have a turnout sheet from them but I will probably be purchasing another one for the upcoming winter. It isn't the best quality you could get out there, but it's fun and affordable and probably won't cost you too much to replace it.

If you can afford it, get two sheets for each horse. One to wear and one to dry/ repair. A wet sheet can be colder than no sheet at all. For turnout, buy the most durable sheets you can and either learn to repair yourself or find a good place to have them repaired. Horses are hard on turnout sheets and blankets. Keeping them repaired and clean will help extend the life of the sheets and ensure they keep your horses warm and dry.

Sometimes you can find good used sheets at a reasonable price. Otherwise, you can get some good buys online and off season. The 64" sounds like a pony. If so, get a sheet made for a pony. Smaller horse sized sheets are often too long and too deep in the chest, so they don't stay on well.

Lastly, double check your measurements. The sizes you have mentioned are very small for horses. My 15 h Arab gelding wears a 76-78 and my 13 hh pony cross wears a 68. I think you measure from the center of the chest to the tail. Maybe someone can confirm that?

The mare is still a 68, and the older gelding (a 200 underweight rescue) is still measuring a 64. He is a short bodied horse. The 69 fly sheet I have for the mare works well on her, but is a bit big if you try it on the gelding. I want to keep it around 80 or below for a sheet, and will look into getting maybe 2 more when the season ends and everything goes back on sale. I like that idea though, and it makes good sense. I love the Tough 1 colors, but I have heard bad reviews due to the construction of the back seam

Tough 1 are decent sheets. I got one last year for my horse and I still have it but I have needed to do repairs on it. Mostly the repairs were needed because the horse next to mine would grab it and pull back. I would buy another because like you I like the bright colors, that and my horse looks awesome in neon green.

Although I like Tough 1 they are not waterproof so if you're looking for a waterproof one then you should look at a different one.
