What can get my stickin mare clean ?

I do not own this mare really. She is like the love of my love. Most of you probably know how that is. I just started showing recently. Like 1 or 2 weeks ago. Well .......i wipe my mare over with this cloth and I keep on brushing her. After I clean her over with the water. I keep on brushing. Does this put more dirt on the coat or anything ? ( oh and she is not mine I just say my mare cause I just do ) I actually think it puts more dirt on. Tell me how to get me to get her clean I compete in pleasure , equitation and halter and showmanship for now just cause I am new to showing. She is used to it by now as she is a school horse. Any suggestions are welcome!! THANKS !

Dirt in a horse's coat can be a good thing--it is natural protection from insects and sunburn, and it exfoliates the skin.

If you are planning to show (it sounds like you are), I would recommend finding a nice cotton sheet to put on her after a bath until she is completely dry. Horses try to replace the dirt in their coats that were lost in a bath, and the sheet would protect her from some of that. Be sure not to bathe her too often, because you could strip her coat of its natural oils and make it appear dull.

Beyond that, a daily rubber curry and brushing will do wonders...I rarely have to bathe my guys to keep them looking clean.

Are you using a shampoo on the horse also? There are many good ones on the market. The actual brushing does not add more dirt to the coat. What happens is the coat of a horse is more dense than we realize. Giving a horse a bath only reaches the surface of the coat. The more brushing done will reveal the dirt closest to the horse's skin.

Rub her with a dryer sheet to get any dusty residue off.

I mean for shows like when I am showing with her and I wipe her over with a wet cloth and then walk her in the sun then I go over her with a brush that had like some stuff on it already and I want to know show tips sorry Oh and she is NOT my horse so yeah I do NOT lease her therefore I have no affect in her shampoos or her daily grooming

After you wipe her down and walk her in the sun, either spray her with Showsheen or some such product and use a soft brush on her that doesn't have any "stuff" on it OR rub her with dryer sheet. It makes their coats shiny and picks up any extra dust left over.

I love love love Shapely's waterless shampoo!!! I use it periodically on my mare's dirty white socks, and it does wonders!

I also love laser sheen...just gotta make sure you really make sure your saddle is on good, because that stuff makes horses slippery! Hahaha

To get my horse clean before a show I use Rio Vista Equishine! I curry her and then brush her with a hard brush. Then I spray her body with the Rio Vista and brush her down again with a soft brush. Granted she is bay and dirt doesn't show too too much on her, it seems to work well! Plus the Rio Vista is supposed to keep the dirt off too! Hope that helps!

When sparyed With Showsheen or similar products it makes the coat shine, but it also makes the horse's coat slick which makes saddling and riding a bit slippery after using it.

I have heard people say that but I have never experienced it lol!
