What To Do With Gracie's.....

Mane and tail? She has a fairly long mane (7-8 inches) and a nice long, full tail (it touches the ground). I was thinking about keeping her mane long and just braiding it, but will it get too hot for the summer? With her tail I'm thinking about doing a blunt cut right up to her fetlock. I don't want her stepping on it

One more thing on thsi subject - At rodeos, what is the proper way to groom your horse? Should the tail be long and the mane braided? I ddin't know if it is standered to keep it a certain way.

i think you should keep her mane and tail the way it is it wont get to hot .. her tail keeps bugs away so being long isnt a bad thing. Keeping it braided in a tail bag would probly be a good idea. Rodeos i dont believe have a certain way you have to groom your horse

Ok, so keep her tail braided I have seen braids where a long ribbon or some vet wrap goes in as one of the strands while braiding. Do you get what I mean? Can that be kept in for a week or so?

I am guessing she is pretty used to her tail and the worry that it bothers her if she steps on it is not really hers but yours.

hmm i think i undertand what you are talking about
a tail bag-there are a couple of different versions but i think your thinking of one that braids in. Those i believe can be left in you should ake it out once or twice a week and work your fingers through her tail and then rebraid if im correct someone with more expeirince wiht them can tell you more

If you want to bang the tail go for it. Typically it's an English riding tradition, gives the hindquarters a better look and a nice finish to the tail. I'd say if it's dragging on the ground to do that, you don't want to get her tail caught on something or stepped on, that will just ruin the bottom and make it look scragly imo. If you do cut it though make sure you have someones arm under the tail to give it some lift and that will tell you where to cut because as she moves her tail "looks" shorter.
