My mare had this same problem..so I roached hers..and it absolutely killed me, lol. But she looks great now.

Just one suggestion I would have is if you don't want to or even after you do roach it, shampoo it with oatmeal shampoo. [I used my dog's shampoo on her] and they should stop itching because that alleviates some of the itchiness.

WAIT!!!! before you roach it try infuism. It is a human product that you can get at wal mart of fred myers or anything like that. It is like a leave in conditioner but it helps grown manes and tails. I have been using it on duchess since march and her mane has probably grown 2 inches or more and has gotten thicker. Its alot cheaper than MTG and it smells good and wont make the mane or tail oily.
