Question What to do with my Arabians mane?

I have this little half Arabian/half Andalusian mare, dapple gray, 15'3", and gorgeous elegant typical Arabian neck. I tried to upload photos, but it's not working. According to her previous owners, her mane is thick and wavy when it is long (like her tail is), and I really want to grow it out.
But my teammates and coach think I'm crazy!
I know if I want to show her hunter in the future, I'll need to pull it at least.
But she won't be ready to show for at least another year or two.

Is there any harm in growing it out? It's mid-neck right now and I'm considering loose braiding it tomorrow so it'll grow out even longer.

I've never had an Arabian so I don't know the breed standards for manes or anything.

There are no breed standards for Arabian manes. Some are very long, some can't grow a long mane to save their life. I would LOVE to see a picture of your girl's mane!! Her breeding sounds beautiful, too. I would grow out her mane if I were you!

Those are pictures of my girly (behaving and not bucking for once) at the show for my team where I first rode her. They aren't the greatest, and her mane is a bit longer now and showing signs of being wavy.

Gosh! When I look at these pictures her thick chest makes her rump seem so high!!!
I have a funny confirmation horse.

Oh well. She's definitely a project and a medical bill. I've been off her almost as many times as I've ridden her. But she's 7 with a completely clean bill of health in all aspects. Who can turn that down? I think the Arabian in her just makes her really smart and it'll just take time for us to bond.

I would deffinitely grow out the mane. Both of those breeds are not meant to have a pulled or cut mane. Also you can still show hunters or any other discipline with the longer mane very well. Instead of doing button braids you would do a tight long running braid down the neck. Still looks very neat and proffessional and is seen in hunter rings all over by people who choose to have a longer mane.

She's a beauty! I agree with Juna and Azale1 - let it grow long! :)

I would grow it out. Arabs are supposed to have nice flowing manes, and same with Andalusians, and for shows there are plenty of other ways to do the mane so its neat and out of the way. Very cute horse, envious of how white you are able to keep her tail.
