I recently acquired a little Palomino foundation QH. When I got her her mane was cut to be banded, but I just recently found pictures of her where her mane was fully past her shoulder. This breaks my heart as she is going to be a little reined cow horse, not a halter horse. However, we're in the awkward stages of growth where it's too long to band but too short to not do anything with and have it look nice. We are running a winter circuit and I was wondering if anyone has any tips on what to do with it so we don't look like we don't care! Thanks!
Bonus points if anyone has any tips for boosting mane growth!!
Here is our gross mane. And please don't judge our halter set up. I lent my show halter and lead shank to my trainers 4 year old daughter to show her horse in the same class. She thought it was so much cooler than I did!
Thanks for the suggestions! I don't thing her mane is quite long enough to net. What do you guys think of running braids? Anyone have any luck with those? Sorry my picture isnt working! Maybe this one will work.
What type/level of shows do you plan on hauling her to? If it's a smaller circuit I really wouldn't worry about it. If it's bigger shows, I'd consider extensions.
A few years back I had a girl who is a hairstylist & was just starting to learn to do extensions do a tail on a mare that had been used as a pacifier by her colt. She did it for practice, I just paid for the hair. She ended up putting the horse butt picture in her portfolio
I think extensions are a good idea! My geldings mane is at about the same stage and if I was doing a winter circuit this year I would defiantly be putting extensions in! Posted via Mobile Device
