You and I have the same problem. Lol when I go to ride Noni, his mane is everywhere! So my friend will help me put it into a french braid all down his neck. It keeps him cool and his mane out if my fingers. For his tail you could always braid it and put it into a tailbag or something to keep it from getting dirty.

He's just the horse to get us there

A running braid isn't good for anythig except riding because when the horse moves it's neck down, it pulls the whole braid out. A tail bag will be your saviour! You can always put it is alot of small braids, like African Americans do with their hair.

I am assuming you mean the little button braids, or as some people call the bump braiding. Little braids braided into little bumps all the way down the neck. Yes, it is beautiful, but totally impractical for daily riding. You do not want to leave these in all the time and they take forever to braid. If I were you and you wanted to braid the mane for riding just put in a running braid. If you want braids that you can leave in, braid the mane in pasture braids, loose braids that you leave in for a few days to a week. Now for showing the button braids are wonderful.

Wow thanks that was what I where thinking of, it take so much time making it in the mane, all the day. But what braids to do then, something that is beautiful but doesn't take all the time! Im thinking of, couse he have all this mane, I could switch it like half mane on the right side and half on the left and then tight it up, what do you think?? I need to take picture of it this week, just need to show it to ya!!

Whatever you decide to do, I would not do it tight, at least to begin with unless they are individual braids. A lot of horses don't care for a tight french braid right off the bat. Think about putting one in your own hair and your mom does it so tight your eyes are squinting. Lol, no fun. Get him use to a french or whatever type of braid and you can slowly get tighter. The tighter the braid, the less he will be able to use his neck with complete freedom.

If you go onto www.youtube.com and click in the search area and type in mane braiding or horse braiding or anything along those lines, there is alot of helpful videos that show beautiful braiding. :)
