As far as saddles and tack - you might want to see if the person you are buying the horse from has a used saddle that fits the horse (and you) that they'd want to sell. I don't know your buying situation, but if they have stuff that already fits the horse that they won't use anymore, it might be a cheap way to get started.

I was normal...then I got a horse.

As far as grooming supplies go... The Oster mane and tail brush is my fav. I first bought it for my Mustang who has a really think mane to get the tangles out. Now I have one for my Paint gelding too.

Horses and children, I often think, have a lot of the good sense there is in the world.

*** Also , before I bought my horse I found a tack store that was going out of business and I got all my grooming supplies there and then some. Some of the brushes were as low as .50- $1 ....Keep your eye out for great end of the season sales too**

I will do that. I do have to try to get the best deal I can on everything, as there is a lot to get. I'm trying to slowly accumulate everything, but that's a great idea.

I tend to get too much, too, so have to keep myself in check.

Yeah, I've been wondering which one is the best to get. There are lots of different ones out there.

Good idea!
I've been checking Ebay for some of this stuff, and some of the prices are good, but then I look at the shipping, and that turns me right off!

Who ever heard of $25.00 to ship a little mane comb???
