What are the ingredients? Does it say anything in the directions about getting it in the eyes?

I don't know, I was thinking just in general. So as long as it says it isn't dangerous you can use it on the face?

Use chalk instead.

I would be okay with it as long as it doesn't say "CAUTION: do not get in eyes" or something like that. But if you're worried, chalk or baby powder work just as well...

Instead of spraying it directly onto the face - take a rag/hand towel/wash cloth etc, etc - and saturate the towel with the spray, and then wipe the towel onto the face.

I do that with Fly Spray. I get the towel covered in the flyspray, and then wipe it over his face.

You can also use a whitening cream like this one:
Twinkle White Chrome cosmetic cream instantly enhances white markings with a shimmering effect.

I saw some of the twinkle products at our store! If I can't find it there I might buy it online, looks good!
