Question Why doesn't my horse like Hooflex?

Hi guys,
My palomino has veryyy dry hooves, so I started using Hooflex..
(I have the brush on one)
I've put it on him about 3 times now.. and he was totally fine each time..
But today I went to put some on, and he "freaked out"
He was lifting his foot off the ground, and then started backing up..
And because he was tied up.. of course the tension of the lead rope freaked him out even more.. So he was pulling back like a madman.. :P (I got him untied and then he calmed down..)

But anyways.. my question is..

What didn't he like about the Hooflex?
Was it the smell? The feeling?

He usually just stands there.. but this time he just didn't like it for some reason..

Have any ideas? That would be great!

Chera ♥

Probably it didn't have anything to do with the Hooflex. I suppose it could contain an ingredient he is sensitive to, but I don't think that's very common. I would try again. Maybe pick his foot up and just run your hand over it or something before trying the HF, just to see. He could have seen/heard/smelled something that scared him.

If you find that he is sensitive to it, please let us know.

Yeah I don't see how he could be sensitive to it, considering it's just a moisturizer.. But I'll definitely look into it.
Thanks so much for the advice!
I'll take more time next time, and try some different things. : )
