Winter coats and showing?

Fuzzy fuzzy o.o

My show horses are so fuzzy! 8D

They ar shedding out but their necks are still fuzzy. I bathe them before a show and put on the sleezies to lay the hair down as best I can, but it's not really slicked as I wanted.

So, just wondering, should I maybe do a clip? Or possibly do you have another suggestion?

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

I wouldn't clip this late in the season or else you will end up having to clip in the summer too for it to look proper. Typically don't want to clip past mid Feb. The sleezy is a really good idea. If you are really careful though you can clip the longer hairs on the neck to help cut down on the fuzzy some. I have done this before on my old grey horse would just clip the real noticable long hairs to help hide it some. But typically judges understand that this time of year horses often look funny sometimes because it is right in the middle of shedding season. Also can try putting your horse under lights to try and speed up the shedding process. Keeping them on till about 10pm at night and on again at about 5-6am.

Cool, thanks :)

I don't normally clip, so I'm not too familiar with the process. i've really only clipped once and that was last winter.

I may just move the horses to my trainer's barn for awhile, as I no longer have a barn at my new place.

I'm showing my wooly bear on Saturday. Hopefully the judges won't take offense.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.
