Would it be worth it to use whitening shampoo on a cream-colored horse?
My friend uses QuickSilver (sp?) on her Paint and it works like a dream. I was wondering if it would do any good for my mom's horse, who has a flaxen mane and tail and cream-colored legs. My mom was hoping it would bring out his highlights. But the stuff is pretty expensive and I want to know if anyone else has done it before I go and buy it. Here's a picture of him if it helps:
You might think I am crazy, but QuicBlack or any 'darkening' shampoo also works to make light horses very bright and clean looking. Having a dark horse, I also use it on his socks to brighten them and they look wonderful afterwards - just don't leave it on too long or it turns them blue.
I have also heard laundry detergent works, however, I have not tried this and I would be very wary of skin irritation.
