Yucky mane...

So I pretty much killed Lacey's mane by brushing it too much and I was wondering if anybody had some good solutions to make it purty again.

Basically it's main problem is that it tangles super easily and it really thin down near the bottom.

I'm not adverse to roaching it if that's the only way to make it nice again but I'd like other ideas too. Do you think maybe trimming it up to like 4-6 inches long or so would do the trick?

MTG does a great job on mane and tails. I would work on making it better then starting from scratch.

I would use MTG on it everyday... and not brush it all the time. Or, instead of brushing it, just run your fingers through it to get the knots out. Don't use a brush.

Well if brushing did that to it.. Then I wouldnt brush it anymore, well not as much

I'll see if I can get some MTG.

And I didn't even brush it that much, just once or twice a week (which maybe is that much, lol.) But yeah, I've been resisting the brushing urge and I haven't brushed it in a week and a half. O.o Haha

Maybe I'll put those training braids in so it doesn't tangle but I don't brush it. Do you think that's be ok? How often are you supposed to take those out? Once every month or so? Sooner?

If you do decide to braid it, I would make them really tight braids, and take them out about every 2 or 3 weeks and then brush, and redo them. Because sometimes little nats and 'itchy' burrs and what not can get stuck in the hair, and make the horse rub out the braids, and knot up the hair, making it harder to grow out nicely. Does that make sense? And I would also use MTG on it everyday. You would not need to take the braids out to use that. So that's good.
