*NEED HELP-Old horse trying to kill donkey

We got Homer, the donkey, on 11/27 kept him seperated by stall and fence for a few days and then started introducing him to our horses one by one in the pasture. All went well until the meeting with our senior horse who is at least 28. Chief did the normal charging with the donkey trotting off but then he decided to charge and grab the donkey by the back. I don't mean just a bite and let go. I mean bite and hold on while they are running. Homer managed to get away and we seperated them again... Back to looking at each other over the fence. Put them together for a while again the next day and Chief charged a few times and then just watched the donkey for a while... All of a sudden Chief decided to charge from across the field and before we could help he had Homer again. Luckily Chiefs back legs slipped and Homer got lose again.
AT THIS POINT I AM REALLY CONCERNED that Chief is going to hurt him. SO FAR JUST SOME BROKEN SKIN AND HAIR LOSS BUT I AM AFRAID IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE.
Homer is a standard donkey but Chief is bigger and much faster. Also he does not seem to be satisfied with the donkey giving him his space, its like he is trying to really hurt him.
The other 3 horses are tolerating the donkey so he is in with them and I am having to keep Chief seperate.
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

Sorry, I don't have good ideas other than continuing to try some supervised time together, however, there are horses that never do get along and just can't be kept together.

Your horse may never accept the donkey. I have one that will not at any time tolerate a donkey. She will attack without a moments notice. Some horses just don't like them.
