Is this abnormal?

Yesterday my gelding had his feet trimmed, they were fairly long, not horrendous, but now they look great. Look. This evening I tacked him up and as I walked him to the mounting block (read: fence) I noticed he was walking weird.
Not just 'carefully', he was litterally picking one foot up, stretching it straight out and dragging himself along, a literal hobble. He'd stand and sort of shake, he tripped from a standstill.
All four legs, though one of his hinds felt tender around the knee area.

What is going on?
We called a vet, over the phone he said it sounded like he was just getting used to his feet, but this is extreme, and he was fine with a few little trips yesterday, THAT is what I call getting used to his feet.
Note: this was on the gravel and sand, grass he was better, still ouchy but a little better.

If he had long hoofs for while he may go sore if trimmed short. Especially if he's on gravel. I wouldn't ride him personally for 2-3 days and would keep him on soft ground (like grass or sand).

If his feet were overly long the change is going to take some adjustment and has likely left him overly sensitive/sore -- I would give him a few days off of all work and let his feet recover.

I agree with the others, let him have a few days off to get used to his feet, then slowly bring him back up. Depending on the severity of the "change" in his feet it could take a week or two even. Just be patient with him.

Some horses are drama queens. What might be nothing to the majority of horse-dom will make a drama queen horse bonkers. Everyone has a different temperament, just give him a few days.

And the pointing of his foot would be to take the pressure of that toe. My mare does that everytime she gets her feet done. I thought maybe she had navicular or some sort of lameness issue at first, but no, she's just a drama queen.

Looooser, he's just a drama queen, he was running around today- then when I went to catch him he did the same thing, after a couple of minutes of me not making a big deal he gave up and walked with me.
They weren't overly long, and when we got him he was quite long when we got them trimmed, and he didn't act that way, so I was worried.
