Its so unfair to the horse because it has no choice but to stay with you. It isnt allowed to abandon you, it has to stay with whoever owns it. And if someone goes through all the trouble of buying/building a fence, buying a horse, going through all that work, they should know what they're getting into. And you dont have to starve the poor horse. Theres always someone somewhere that will take a free horse...

that is just awful, to abuse and neglect a horse like that is just not a thought in my world, people should just be shot for even thinking of doing something that terrible, I wish I could just save all of them.

they dont have to build all of that stuff horse haven of tn said that one of their horses came from a 3x3 foot chicken coop,it was a mini stud that was neglected and abused.i can believe that because tn is known for its backyard horses.backyard horses meaning that the horses are just un reg. horses kept in the back yard small lean in shleter, not rode anywheres but maybe a local show or two.i have a lot of friends with backyard horses it isnt anything to be ashamed of and these horses are treated fairly well.i dont understand why people beat horses, why dont they go and beat something that can bite them back like a pitt bull or something(not saying anything about pit bulls).

its horse show time in tennessee!!!!!!!
what im not paranoid!!! ....whos asking???

How utterly dispicable(sp)!!!
There used to be a program on TV where the spca would go to recue or sieze(sp) animals living in conditions like some of what was shown in this video...
If I could I would save as many animals as I could afford to! It breaks my heart to see horses in this way! Or any animal for that matter.
Horses really hit me hard when they are so amaciated like some of these....
I have seen and heard of wonderful success stories out there.
Here where I live, there are wild mustangs. During a time when the BLM is already having trouble managing the ones that have already been removed from the range lands, I hear them rounding up more and more...It breaks my heart.
The economy is bad and over the last few months I have even read in the news paper of some people actually letting their horses go....just ditching them onto range land...
how aweful...
I am in the process of reading a book about a woman who rescues a mare and foal who are amaciated and ill due to abuse...it brings tears of sorrow deep nto my heart, becasue i feel that horses are such a spiritaul animal....They truly are one of the many creatures on this planet that can reach into some peoples souls and bring them out...such as children with Autisim...
There is a woman I know locally that is a rescuer of wild horses...A foal was found at the local dump standing by its dead mother. I will not go into the graphc detail other then to say a large moutnatin lion was involved...The foal was taken in by this woman and every time I am in a particular store I amke sure to drop all my change and $1's in the can. I have seen the success stories from her hard work and efforts to restore these horses to a better life...
I do believe that this terrible type of cruelty should be dealt with in a strictor fashion and i know that it varies greatly from state to state on the prossecution process...I feel many people who abuse animals tend to get of way to easy....

We are only as honorable as we treat our most vulnerable - I think Ghandi said this. I work with children, this kind of abuse is seen in them as well. Why do people do this?

Halfpass - you are totally right about Autistic children. There is a movie coming out "Horse Boy" about an autistic boy and his therapy with horses! The book is out already - it is fabulous!

Those pictures are horrid! I've seen a donkey with skis, not cool. The owners just never cared. I ended up called the SPCA once, it was the second time. It was the only time they would get them done, yet they continued to keep him. I dont understand why they would.

The picture on the cover of the book makes me cringe. I do want to read it though.
