I'll try to keep this short.
About 7 years ago, I was put in charge of training a 13 hand mutt pony. As it turned out, she was 17, completely wild and horribly abused. She was beaten with 2 by 4s over the head and has a scar on her neck from barbed wire wrapped a stick. I promised her nothing bad would ever happen to her again.
After much work, she became a great beginner pony for children. She gave 6 years of her life to small children pulling on her. I kept her happy by jumping and going on trails.
She is now 23. About 4 months ago something happened to her right stifle. She's essentially dead lame. I want her. I have offered to retire her but for some reason the barn owner keeps putting it off. She is only costing him money at this point.
Am I crazy for wanting to buy this pony??? I love her... I do. She's the best mare in the world and she dealt with so much. I will probably never be able to ride her and life will never be the same for her. Am I nuts?
Any input will be welcome. Thanks in advance!!
