Anaplasmosis recurring?

My horse was diagnosed with Anaplasmosis about 2 months ago and was on intense antibiotic treatment for 2 weeks with improvement with in the 1st 2 days of treatment. During and after treatment we did a blood test to monitor her progress and she was still low on red blood cells. I have been suplimenting her with red blood cell and did another blood test a few weeks ago which them showed she was back to normal or very close to it.

Today she was showing the same signs of the disease and a blood test showed the prior issues with her blood count. We are sending her blood to a special lab to confirm the diagnosis and started her back on the previous treatment until the results come back. Is anyone familiar with this recurring so soon. It is winter here so no new ticks that transmit the disease. Have you seen longer than 2 weeks of anitibiotics in the normal treatment course.

From what I have read they should be immune to it after getting sick.

Antibiotic treatment should be at least a full month.

False positives are common, but since she's showing signs, I'd very she never fully recovered since the course of antibiotics was too short.

Doesnt sound like she was treated long enough with the antibiotics my horse had Anaplasmosis. He was on antibiotics for 6 weeks he also had lyme dease at the same time. No their not immune to it after theyv had it once they can get it again if bitten by a infected tick. Or it can come back if not treated long enough with antibiotics that sounds to be the case with your horse.

My understanding is also that the treatment should continue for a good month. My horse had it two springs in a row. Despite him appearing back to normal within 3 days of doxy, we did the full 21 days to be safe. He made it through all of last year with no new infection although he did get a bit lethargic in the hotter weather. I don't know if there is any link between that and the previous illnesses.
