Anybody using the Impact Gel saddle pads?

Our trainer has been using them on our horse for about two weeks with very good results. The pad seems to have removed or reduced some pressure points that were bothering him.
Any other experiences? I'd love to hear what you have so say...

I'm glad they are working well for you and your horse.

The problems those I know that have used a variety of gel pads comes when they need to rope cattle and/or ride for a full day (7 - 10 hours). I will recommend that if you are going to ride 3 or more, get off, unsaddle, and knead the pad to an even thickness, reapply, and resaddle.

They can hold more heat, and they can build up gel more in one spot than another.

The manufacturer may say different, but that is our experience around here.

We have had nothing but good from the IGs, but for me I prefer 5 Stars much more. They don't compress like other pads, they wick sweat, and I have found are just overall great saddle pads.

Conformation is how far the horse CAN go,
Mind is how far the horse WILL go,
Training is how far it DOES go.

I love my Impact Gels. And I trail ride for up to 5/6 hours at a time. But I think I love them for their quality felt more than the gel. The felt is really, really nice.

I don't think the gel travels around like other gels might. I think it is more like the gel insole in a shoe. And the felt makes up for any possible issues with the gel anyway. Did I mention I like their felt?

I own a 5-Star as well, and I love it because it is quality felt and light-weight. The Impact Gels I have are older and a little heavier. But they are good pads and even though I own a 5-Star I frequently use my Impact Gels as well.

So no problems to report here. I really love them. And as they are a little bit cheaper than the 5-Stars, I could really foresee myself buying another Impact Gel in the future. Not than any of my old ones have worn out. I bought them second hand from a friend and they are still going strong. They are probably at least 5 years old now.
