Anyone know a good horse chiropractor?
I am new to the site and was hoping you all might have some references for a good horse chiropractor or massage therapist...
I have two wonderful paint horses, each with their respective problems.
Lucky is a 15 year old American Paint. He is about 16hh; he has a lean build (but no trouble keeping weight!) and high withers. He seems to have a 'cold back' and trouble bending at the poll. If I put any pressure on the bit he rides around with his mouth open. I have gotten the same response after trying to use a bitless bridle also. The vet has checked him and found no injuries or problems with his teeth.
Snoopy is my other paint, he's 10 years old and seems to be a Paint/Morgan cross. A neighbor gave him to me over the winter after not being able to ride him. She rescued him from a slaughter auction, where he was being ridden by 2 girls (probably sedated), because when she tried to ride him at home he bucked her off consistently. Now he won't even let anyone near the saddle. Any movement towards the stirrup and he looks like a saddle bronc horse. I have been doing ground training with him and he knows his stuff, is not over sensitive, etc. The vet has cleared him from injuries, so aside from past abuse he experienced I think he has something going on with his back or ribs. I am planning on finding a trainer to help me, but want to make sure he's comfortable first.
I am open to any and all ideas, suggestions, etc. If you have used a chiropractor or massage therapist near Culpeper, VA (or even northern VA area) I would really appreciate the reference.
