Aspirin or Bute?

Hi! I'm a new horse owner- I've ridden pretty much my whole life, but I don't know a whole lot about veterinary care. The horse that I bought is an 8 year old Percheron/Thoroughbred cross and he has some hock soreness sometimes. Which is better/safer to use... bute or aspirin??

I'm not sure if one is necessarily safer than the other on a long term basis.....both can cause ulcers, GI bleeding and such....

Others may know more than I about this though....

Agreed. In general, bute is very effective for leg pain, but if you're looking at long term use, talk to your vet.
