Attention All Aussies -- hendra virus???

Redlands Vet Clinic near Brisbane has apparently been quarantined due to the Hendra virus there? What I read, (well, skimmed) was that one person had actually died from being in contact with a horse there and 5 horses have died.

I hope this isn't affecting anyone anymore and is under control. Take care of you and yours!

I live about half an hour from redlands but the horses are about an hour from there. It seems they have it pretty well contained to that area but a nurse got a needle stick from a contaminated needle so they are worried about her now. Thankfully it isnt rampant like EI was and quarantine was on top of it straight away.

According to local reports we have only lost 3 horses to it but yes, poor dr. Kinneen passed away during the week. He was sent home from hospital with the all clear and then died the next day I believe. Very sad business. He was the vet dealing with the horses with hendra.

There arent any huge concerns of an outbreak at this stage thankfully
