B&L solution

I recently bought an older horse for my children to learn on to ride. He is a 27 yr old QH/Arab cross. He has been on B&L solution once a day.
Does anyone use that daily?
He is older and maybe he does have the aches and pains of age.
He doesn't appear to be in any discomfort, new shoes, in good health.
I will have the vet come out and give him a look over next week.
I don't want to give him things he doesn't need.
Not sure if it was a "he's always had it, so continue". I was told he had no health issues.

Thank you for any advice,

Ask the previous owner how often the pony gets it and why. They should know If he's doing ok on it now then there is no reason to take him off it, unless it costs a fortune in which case then yh, aks the vet lol

B-L is a bute free pain reliever, right?

At 27 I would guess your horse has many aches and pains that come with being an old man. 27 is very much a senior citizen.

I would guess his daily pain help is what makes it easier for him to get around and enjoy the day.

Yes. Supposed to be a natural alternative to bute.

Devils claw is the active ingredient. I've been told it can still cause ulcers as traditional bute can.

I appreciate the responses. I'm having the vet come out next week to take a look. I'll keep him on the B&L for now. Just want to do what's best for him. He appears to be in great shape and happy.
