Yes. It's called 'shedding her foal coat'.

Please get and read the book, Blessed Are the Broodmares.

I think she actually has some kind of a skin fungus.. she was shedding her foal hair, but there were little scabs, and later on she got a ringworm on her rear leg...

Do you have pictures of the scabs?

Foals shed several times in their first few years.

No I should get some... her skin seems to be getting a little better, her foal hair is almost completely gone but now it looks like her new hair is coming off in some spots, I don't know if she is rubbing it off or what cause those spots aren't scabby like the first time was... I have been putting some stuff on her ringworm and it looks like its clearing up. But the other day I noticed a little spot on her ear that was a little scabby.. so I don't know what to do to treat it. Or to prevent it from coming back or get worse.

This is what some of her spots look like.. some I know are from nips from another ween-ling, but some I don't know if she is rubbing off or if it is some kind of fungus. These spots arent scabby like the ones she had while she was shedding her foal hair, but I just got rid of a ringworm she had on her leg.. I am just trying to find out what I can do to prevent it from getting worse if it is a fungus...
