Changing Hay

I have a quarter-mix pony named Bandit who previously got severre runny waste when I changed his hay from Coastal to the Timothy mix. He was sick with that for months, with not vet conclusion. I ended up moving barns and he was back on Coastal so all was well.

I have to move barns again, and they only feed the Timothy mix there. I would like to know the best way to switch him from Coastal to Timothy? I can get a few square bales of Coastal to ease him into it, but I cannot long term feed him Coastal because of pasture difficulties.

Any advice is appreciated, just want what's best for Mr. B!

change, hay, runny waste
