I ran off to get a halter for Dotty, and she and Loki started kicking at each other. Loki, of course, started it. He likes to be the boss of the pasture and Dotty just doesn't stand for that kind of thing anymore xD
Thankfully, Dotty wasn't bred this year so I didn't have to worry about a foal in her belly. But Loki's shoed and I was really worried about him injuring her.
Dotty has huuuge chestnuts, and before I could get a halter on her and stuff her back into her pasture Loki managed to kick one of her chestnuts off.
The lady who owns the ranch, and Dotty, said that horses can bleed to death from getting chestnuts ripped/kicked off. We got some blood-stopping stuff on her ASAP and she's fine now. Her and Loki got into yet another fight about a week ago over the fence and busted up the gate -.-
So whats the scoop on chestnuts? Is there some sort of regular maintenance I should be aware of?
