Chiggers!

I'm trying to make these two TWH into trail horse extraordinaires (sp, sorry!). They are coming along great but one always has freaking chiggers! We know how to treat it, its the prevention we have issues with. One horse gets them and the other one doesn't. I am also very careful to keep them out of the grass. I ride one and pony the other so they are walking through the same areas.

Are there any fairly inexpensive ways to prevent chiggers?

Get a flock of guineas, they eat all kinds of bugs! Fleas, ticks. Chiggers,

Lol, I wish. It's only on trail not on the property. I live on Long Island so they don't have acres and acres of grass or anything really to house bugs. We measure out paddock space in feet! ;)

Oh.. well that makes since lol. We just use fowl to take care of bugs. Maybe try bug spray? Just on the legs if that's where they tend to getn
