Good for you & him! He's a very lucky boy.... now! Sounds like all is going well. If he's gained some concavity in such a short time, I'd say they may not have been quite as bad as they looked. I wouldn't want to try to force the issue though, without at least knowing exactly where the internal structures are. Further concavity tends to just come when the feet start to become really healthy. Did you get xrays? Mightn't be a bad idea, especially considering it sounded like long term neglect, so you know if/where any bone remodelling has happened to know how you may have to trim differently.

Update: 4th Trim

Hello again everyone it's time again for some update shots from Clyde's most recent trim, his 4th trim since I got him in July. Enjoy!

Clyde's hind feet right before the trim:

A comparison of one front hoof trimmed, the other not:

This picture really shows how much that big nasty crack has grown out in the front right hoof. This crack was up to the coronet band in July!

A good close up of all 4 feet trimmed (pretty much, it's an action shot:)

A further back shot of the same thing - his feet look so tiny now:

And there's always got to be one shot for no reason :)

See you in a month! Hopefully that crack will be just about GONE!

Great! I'd be interested to see some sole shots too. One of the links in my signature takes you to a page explaining best angles for hoof pics. Yes, he has got quite short looking feet for his size. Did you get any xrays done? Be interested to see those if you did.

Wow, he's looking so much better!!! Just from that first pic, I would have guessed that the crack may never fully grow out, but I am superbly happy to see that it is .

That really sucks that he bucked you off and I'm glad that your arm is healing well and you'll soon be back at it. Hopefully it was a one-time thing and he'll never have another fit.
