colic

I am interested in purchasing a mare quarter horse that is around 6 years old. She has coliced one time several months ago. I am not sure of the reason for it. My question is does anyone know if a horse has coliced once, is it prone to happen again? I have never had a horse to go thru this myself.

Not necessarily; but that's going to depend on 'what' caused the colic...say if she was wormy, she colicked, they realized what caused it and got her wormed, then probably not. If she has undiagnosed enteroliths (basically stones in her stomach or intestines, then she could colic again.

My suggestion, would be to get a very thorough vet work up, and inquire further from the owners, about her particular episode of colic.
