I am currently seeing an extremely expensive vet who visits every two weeks for equine uveitis in my 4 year old rescue horse. He performs an ultrasound (120), charges me for various eyedrops (40 - 60 ea.) and oral dexamethasone (135/bottle). This is getting too expensive, and I found out that another vet charges half for eyedrops, doesn't perform ultrasound every time and charges only 10 dollars for oral dexamethasone. I told my vet I am switching, but he called me telling me that he is a specialist and a regular vet cannot do what he does. He is a really good vet. I just can't afford him. I could be saving a few hundred with every visit.
What do you think I should do? Go ahead with the switch or stick to the expensive specialist?
