Hi, I am wondering if anyone has any experience of horses with COPD. Mine was diagnosed last summer and has been on ventipulmin since. Insurance has now run out and I need to find a cheaper alternative (unfortunately.)

Cherry is 13.2hh and is a very good doer. She can get laminitis in the summer if I do not keep her on a strict diet and exercise her 5 -6 times per week. She does not have a cough or runny nose but breathes very heavy when she has had a canter / gallop. She is fine even when she has had a long trot (1/2 mile +). She is relatively fit and I try to keep her this way all year round.

She is now in for the winter (stabled 13hrs per night, in the field the rest of the time, rugged up). She has haylage and a shavings bed for the first time this year.

Has anyone any advice as to a supplement instead of the ventipulmin? I have approx 2 mths of ventipulmin left but need to look for alternatives now.

I have read things about anti-oxidants but all this info is a bit mind boggling!!

Please help!!
